Still Alive And Kicking

I haven't updated in a while. Life is very busy. We sold our house and now are trying to find a new place in this insane Bay Area market. What we have to pay for a house compared to most other places in the country is just insane. Looking forward to life going back to normal... and having a functional workshop again.

Headin' up and movin' out

I've spent near 40 hours in the last week packing the basement up to get ready to sell our house. It is unbelieveable how much stuff we have. It was very very overwhelming. All my motorcycle and tool stuff, which I need. Tons of action figures I can't get rid of. Tons of books I don't read but can't part with (in hopes Max will take interest some day.) Loads and loads of baby stuff we need to hang on to (no, nothing to report). Art supplies, guitars, sewing supplies, furniture, keepsakes, toys and toys and toys... Tonnage. I haven't even packed the actual house yet.







For a while I had to bikes in the back so I could move around easier. All lined up.


We've been looking at open houses every Sunday for a month. Everything is dependent on what's a tolerable commute, safety, the schools (they are bad everywhere), and what we can afford. We stand to make a good amount on our house, which is the only reason we can pull this off. We bought low, and now the market in our nieghborhood is insane. So we will be selling high. But also buying high. It boggles my mind that we will be paying 3/4 million dollars on a house that costs $250,000 just about anywhere else in the country... and it's competitive. All for Max and our sanity. Here's to better things!

Max's Big 2!

Max's real birthday is Monday the 10th but we had his birthday party yesterday. The weather was beautiful and Max had a blast.

At long last, I found a pair of foot rests for the Beezer. After seeing a few go for $100-$200, I found a set of mid-50's Gold Star foot rests for $30. They had the correct spline to fit the B33. One was good, but the other required 2 hours of attention with a file to fix every single spline. And then a bit of gentle persuasion with the torch, and the Beezer has some place for my feet! Now to just clean the gas tank and it should be mostly good to toodle around the streets on.

XS650 Walk Around

I've been taking a break from motorcycles to concentrate on finishing the longest kitchen remodel in history. We're planning on selling in April and it's go time to finish the house repairs and updates. So in the meantime, here's the XS running.

Lose some weight, fat ass

After chasing different possibilities on the XS for 3 days, Occhio Lungo Pete suggested I try removing the seat to see if I'm pinching anything. That's crazy, I DID have that issue before, but I solved it already. But I decided to try it... yup, that was it. My fat butt was compressing the seat affecting the kill switch. It is ALWAYS the simple problems that cause the longest problem-solving! Well, she rips now! I'm going to keep an eye on the head torque and slowly take longer rides, no highway for a bit. Not legal right now anyway... hah!
