Lizards
Here's the last thing I drew this weekend, Saturday night actually. I had my Slim Whitman Pandora station going, a Totinos party pizza in the oven, and some dogs keeping me company. I sometimes wish I went to art school. Maybe things would have been different. Actually I know they would be. I'd probably be even poorer than I am now. But it's nice to think I could have been trained with skills like color theory, life drawing/painting, human anatomy, and other techniques. But in the meantime, I'll just keep winging it.

Speedballin'
I pulled my Speedball dipping pens and old Prismacolor markers out of storage and decided to give them a go again. These are the first test runs. I haven't used the Prismacolors since 1998!

How I almost got gutted like a fish
I went to the piers in San Francisco this morning with one of the hispanic warehouse workers to pick up a fixture an artist made us for a show. On the way out said warehouse worker saw some other Spanish workers hauling fish. He communicated with them in their shared language and ran inside to get some cheap fish.
I sat in the truck twiddling my thumbs and looking around, and decided to take some pictures. Coworker came out. I was trying to take a picture of the fish business door; I thought it was interesting. Just as I snapped the picture one of the workers came out ruining my shot. Damn. I then heard him yell some words at the other laborers, I definitely heard "puto". He came to the window of the truck, me thinking he was talking to my coworker, and they exchange a few words. I didn't make out any of it. After a bit, we left.
On the way out warehouse worker tells me that as soon as I took the picture the guy screamed at his buddies, "Hey this asshole just took a picture of me!" and called them over. He goes on to tell me that he calmed them down, telling them I was a designer taking pictures of architecture and was not the INS.
They all had many large knives on them.

Cruise Night? More like Booze Night
Friday was the first Oakland Cruise Night of the year. It was also the first cruise night I went without Lori, which was a bummer. As usual I enjoyed myself and enjoyed chattin' it up with friends and other new folks. I met Dick Gambino for the first time, which was cool. But most of all I just like my Desoto getting some fresh air and hanging with my friends. I upgraded my raccoon tail to a fox tail, and hopefully I'll soon get that wolf whistle I've been trying to get for over 2 years at a good price. Seriously, I had no idea vintage wolf whistle resulted in such bidding wars. I stopped trying to get a Bates seat for my Triumph because of the insane bidding wars that take place. Now wolf whistles? Stop buying our shit, Japan! Sorry for the tangent.

Statute of limitation on Duraflames?
Yesterday Lori was getting ready for her flight and I had "The Decline" on full blast and moshing with my dogs when suddenly the dogs flipped out and ran to the door. Which meant there was someone at the door. I turned down the music and peaked out. An older black woman who looked fairly familiar.
I opened the door and politely said, "Hello?"
"Hi, I'm here for my logs."
After I got past a few seconds of a "what-the-fuck?" expression on my face, I asked her, "Your logs?"
"Yeh, the logs I bought here. I paid for them and said I was coming back for them."
A few more moments of "what-the-fuck?!?" and it dawned on me: she was talking about her buying the Duraflame starter logs at our garage sale back in October, 5 months ago.
"I'm sorry, I can't even remember selling them to you at this point, we don't have them."
"That's ok, just give me my $5 back."
I could feel my Bruce Banner rage pilot light flickering. You have got to be kidding me. 5 months later and this woman knocks on our door about a $5 purchase.
"I'm sorry, I don't have $5."
"That's ok, tell me when to come back."
Rage pilot light is now starting to burn brighter and brighter.
"No, I'm not giving you $5 for something you bought 5 months ago and didn't come back for."
At this point her attitude began to manifest. Lori came out and I explained to her what was going on. I saw a few moments of "what-the-fuck?" expression on her face.
This woman and I had a few moments of a pissing contest and I had had enough. I told her so, and slammed the door on her. Outside I could here her making comments about "oh no, that's how it's gonna be?" and other such nonsense.
I turned around, and Lori and I both had looks of disbelief. We can't wait to see what comes out of this.

Even ninjas get cold
Lori made me a neckwarmer for commuting. It also double as a dicky for Mensa meetings.
