Cruisin'

Yesterday was the Vintage Invasion motorcycle ride. Since my bike is down we decided to make a family day of it and meet up with everyone in the Desoto. F + L came along too in their 1951 Plymouth. The bikes took off and lost us in .2 seconds, so we just did our own thing and drove around the Santa Cruz mountains, and then up the 1. No problems! Just lots of gas consumption.

There's a lot of tension around here

What a weekend already; I'm off to a good start. I began my day with a run. Luka helped get me out of bed at 7:00 AM and out the door by 7:30. He'd been whning nonstop for about 2 hours and I finally gave up. I planned on doing a 4 mile run but decided to just bite the bullet and do 8 miles. I'm pooped.

Then I came back and started working on my Triumph. I made a new brake rod yesterday. Today's task was make the chain tensioner. The idea is a simple lever with a spring, and a skateboard wheel to keep the chain taught. Took a little work, but I'm happy. I'm going to change out some of the hardware, but the idea is sound.

Also yesterday I primered the brake light and added some Bondo to smooth things out. One step at a time.

Back Yard Beach Party

Our back yard became a dust bowl. When we moved in it had grass, then the dogs sort of killed everything. So I put mulch down and that's how it stayed for a while. I got sick of it. I sectioned off a big chunk and replanted grass. 3 weeks later we had a lush, full, green yard. We enjoyed it last weekend with a bbq, some drinks, and some sun worshipping. And I ate a contaminated burger.

But the biggest news was after we were done, lori ran into a cactus... with her head. From her own words:

"It was a beautiful day. I was basking in the sun’s rays, imagining our neighbor’s house was a tropical beach and enjoying a bloody mary. After an afternoon of relaxing and no refuge of a sparkling pool, Jason and I got the great idea to spray each other with the hose and run around like children.

Well, Jason got the first shot at me. He began to spray and it was cold but it felt good. I ran towards the other side of the yard. Ok, that was fun. My turn. But, then he just continues to spray. And spray. And now the water pressure is increasing and the water temperature is decreasing. I fling my hand over my face, and run.

Straight. Into. A cactus.

Jason spent the next 2 hours tweezing cacti needles from my head.

The end."

Psyche

I thought I was getting better. I ate 2 meals yesterday, went to work, and was feeling good (better). Then last night I woke up to some churning stomach. I went to the couch and just sat there feeling ill while my guts churned and churned. I'm talking loud guts. Making sounds inside my belly like a pot of brewing coffee. I sat there nauseaus, Luka whining to be let out, and feeling like death. Then bam. It hit me and off I went to the head. So I'm home again today.

Sunday my weight was 184, I hadn't been able to get under 180 even with all my running. Well I found the answer. It's called gastroenteritis. Today my weight is 174. I should sell this to Hollywood. And I may only be halfway through recovery as it can take 10 days for a bacteria based bug to get through my system. All I can eat right now is crackers and water. All for a hamburger.

Racists galore

"This is what actually happened at the event. The news only showed the woman being escorted away by the police. What happened was the women walked in with signs, the crowd booed and yelled at the women. The women rolled up their posters and put them down. A photographer/reporter approached the woman on the end and wanted to see what the poster was. As the woman went to show the photographer/reporter what the poster was, a man from the bleachers stood up and snatched the poster from the woman and photographer/reporter. As the woman went to retrieve her poster the police stepped in and escorted the woman and the man from the building.

The poster was not of Obama, it was not pro health care, the poster that was taken from the woman and wrinkled up into a ball was of Rosa Parks.

National news coverage only showed the woman being escorted from the forum and left out the fact that it was the man who started the incident. Not to mention it was a poster of Rosa Parks. "

Bad Burgers

Well that was a shitty 2 days... literally. I went home Monday afternoon really not feeling well, and it just got worse from there. My guess is I had food poisoning, though no one seems to think I did. I think I had some bad burger meat on Sunday and on Monday morning I was not feeling well at all. I was fatigued, nauseaus, horrible stomach pains, a little barf action, and lots of, well, fluid loss. In fact I lost 7 pounds in 2 days. I had no appetite whatsoever. I felt good enough to go to work today, but my stomach is still doing flip flops. My energy level is beginning to return a little and I don't feel like I'm dying anymore. But I don't think I'm going to run the Walt Stack 10K on Sunday.

Lori's Birthday Day 1

I took Lori to Malibu Grand Prix last night as the first of a series of birthday surprises. Lame miniature golf, annoying teenagers, old hot dogs, but kick ass big go-carts. I went home nauseaus so it was a good night.

Sissy boy

I snuck out and got it done, and just beat the evil fog rolling in. I am VERY happy with how this came out. Everything is dead nuts center and I think it looks good taboot.

BMX pegs are useful

snip snip

First one is easy. Second one you have to copy the first

TADA!

Lots of welds to grind down and smooth.

Tomorrow I'm going to probably dedicate to the Desoto gas tank and carb. I have everything painted and ready to reinstall. But next up for the Triumph is the brake light. I can see the light!

Take 2!

I wasn't happy with the first sissy bar so Lori helped me bend another this morning. I am MUCH happier with this one. Hopefully the weather plays nice and I can get it mounted this weekend.

First on left, second on the right

too much shit!
