The Key Is Organization

It took me a week, but I finally did a hardcore cleaning of the garage and reorganized the man cave. I'm hoping I can get back on the horse and finish up the XS and then get back on the Triumph, even if it is just 20 minutes a week. After months and months and years, all my Triumph motor replacement parts are finally arriving this week. I still have a couple expensive bits to fix (need someone to redo the head, bore the barrels, and rebuild the mag), and I'm not sure where I'll get the money since we just have one income, but it's progress little at a time.

I even set up a little artist's retreat.

Catching Up

It's been 2 weeks since I've updated, and with good reason: It's been an exhausting 2 weeks. Max went through a horrific screaming phase, perhaps pre-teething, and it just left us pulling our hair out. We tried quite a few different tactics. In the end, the best solution has been a 7:30 bedtime routine (feed, play, shower, read a story, feed, and put asleep in his crib). He was waking up almost every hour at night, but we've got him down to about 3 times. This is karma biting us in the butt, I suppose. Our first 3 1/2 months were relatively easy while our friends had a rough going. Now their kids are sleeping through the night and Max is up. But at least it's tolerable now.

And being a stay at home dad has been way more work than I ever imagined. Max needs constant attention. His naps have only been lasting 30-40 minutes, so I use that time to do as many chores as I can. Max is on the verge of walking, and I definitely know he will be a handful. I have almost forgot about my hobbies. I'm only reminded of them when I go downstairs for something and we catch a fleeting glimpse of each other. On the flipside, I have been relatively busy with some freelance artwork, so I'll post that as soon as I can.

In the meantime, here's some Max catchup...

Max's 4th

Max turned 4 months old today. He is an absolute handful. He's standing now quite well as long as he uses me for balance. He's jabbering, drooling, cranky and smiley, playful and pouty. He's pushing his arms and holding his body up, really wanting to crawl. We think he is beginning to know his name. He is on the verge of sitting and holding himself up. He loves to be outside and to be carried in his new carrier. His mother misses him dearly during the day. He loves his new bath, is splashing and loving it; he is a water-baby Pisces afterall. I didn't get a onesie done for him because he's quickly outgrowing everything. We're lucky if we get one use in on some things. He is awesome, exhausting, beautiful, my buddy, and all encompassing.

Wanted... RD badges

Looking for a cheap, and I mean cheap, pair of RD350 gas tank badges. Can have bad paint but not dinged up.

Originals

Bought these prints the other day. Thought I'd share.

Mr. Mom

Today is my first day as full time stay at home daddy, and Lori's first day back to work. It's going to be roughest on Lori, and I can't speak for her, but this is not some cake walk job. I salute all stay at home parents. It's balancing act of feeding, happy time, cranky fest, followed by a nap. Repeat every 3 hours or so. My biggest fear is keeping Max asleep and that he doesn't wake up too soon before his next feeding because it will not be a happy experience for either of us. My freelance work may have to wait until the evenings when she's home. Hopefully max and i get into a routine and it gets easier.

Smile Monster

Everyone thinks that Max does nothing but smile. Trust me, he is super cranky at night and when he needs to take a nap, but he's really happy about 30-60 minutes after eating. Smiling is like his thing, man! We don't have to force it. We don't have to take 100 photos to get that one smile. I don't know what two misanthropic Haterade drinkers did to deserve such a happy boy, but he's ours!

The Desoto Prairie Companion

Went to Alameda for an afternoon.
It was nice having a regular neighborhood moment.
And not feeling like we're in the Old West for once.
Put the hubcaps on the Desoto, been 5 years.
Came home and 6 gun shots went of in the front. Shells found the next morning.
We hella love Oakland(?)
